Worship
In the early days of the church, the believers in Jerusalem met every day in the temple courts (Acts 2:46). Eventually, however, the first day of the week—Sunday—emerged as the day Christians regularly assembled (Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:2). This was undoubtedly to commemorate the resurrection of our Lord.
In keeping with this practice, Fellowship Bible Church meets on Sunday mornings at 10:00 for our main Worship Service. Each service is creatively designed to accomplish several biblical purposes:
- to glorify our God through music, worship, and praise;
- to learn from God’s Word through challenging, practical Bible teaching;
- to observe periodically Communion (the Lord’s Supper) and baptism; and
- to provide believers with the opportunity for sharing items of insight, praise, prayer, and their creative ministry abilities.
Music
"Let everything that has breath praise the LORD" (Psalm 150:6, NIV).
From the opening song to the last, you're able to do just that. And you're not alone when you sing. On one Sunday a solo guitarist could accompany you. On most you'll enjoy worshiping with a full ensemble of male and female vocalists accompanied by a variety of instruments. All of this is to direct our focus to God, to praise Him.
But beautiful lyrics, melodies, harmonies, and rhythms do even more. In addition to expressing our love for God, they meet our needs when we’re troubled, lonely, or saddened. The chords of the music touch the chords of our lives. Our music is expressed in both traditional hymns of the faith and in contemporary choruses and worship songs.
You can be involved too. Your vocal or instrumental abilities can be used. You may sing or play in any of the various segments of FBC’s service. Solos. Duets. Ensembles. All are welcome to participate. Even the children—from as young as four years of age—have opportunities to enjoy God’s gift of music. So why not lend an ear and come join the song? FBC is playing your tune!
