Mission Statement
The mission of Fellowship Bible Church is to help people follow the Lord Jesus Christ.
We will do this by providing three vital experiences in balance:
- vital learning experiences with the Word of God,
- vital relational experiences with God and with His followers, and
- vital outreach experiences with the unsaved world.
The early Christians did three things to reach this goal (Acts 2:42-47):
- They were instructed in God’s Word (receiving Bible teaching).
- They had close relationships with God (offering worship) and His people (enjoying fellowship).
- They spread the good news of Jesus to unbelievers (practicing evangelism and missions).
Yet Scripture does not tie us down to one type of church structure or method for providing these experiences. As He did with the early Christians, God has set us free to develop methods for making disciples that are meaningful and relevant to our culture. The "functions" (or duties) of the church are clearly prescribed in Scripture and therefore cannot change. But the "forms" (or methods, structures) by which these functions are carried out can and should change so that they can best meet the needs of changing cultures. No church should compromise any biblical function or get "locked in" to any specific form. Instead our forms should change as the needs arise.
It was this sense of scriptural freedom that motivated the founders of FBC to launch our church with new forms in August of 1984. Come along, and help us make disciples of Jesus Christ!
